Hot at Hopkins: Mike Brooks
Are you the type of girl who likes to laugh? Are you attracted to a guy who can turn a frown upside down? If humor is what you go for, then look no further, because I have the guy for you! Mike Brooks is a goofster with a heart of gold who, besides a good joke, enjoys cooking, writing, playing guitar and basketball. His favorite TV shows are How I Met Your Mother and Heroes. Mike said that Shaquille O' Neill would play him in a movie, which would be about a non-lethal weapon created by the army that gets into the hands of some undesirables and his struggle to save the country. Mike is a unique guy who describes himself as always working hard and yet hardly working. He appreciates humor in everything, and is really motivated . . . when he enjoys doing something. The animal he would most compare himself to would be half velociraptor, half grizzly bear and half ferocious tiger. Rawr!
Just like most students at Hopkins, Mike stays pretty involved on campus. He is the Big Kahuna, the head honcho, the all-powerful editor-in-chief of the Black and Blue Jay (the Hopkins Humor Paper), which he writes for, edits and basically holds together. Mr. Brooks is also very active with Hillel and works as the building monitor every Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. A funny quirk about Mike is that he has a lot of idiosyncrasies when he talks and is a big fan of catchphrases. He constantly is trying to bring back words from the past, like "Hoozah!" When he is not trying to bring back words, you can find Mike either at the Hillel, the library or at the basketball courts at the Rec Center, where he spends a good amount of his free time. In his time off campus, Mike likes going to the Inner Harbor and Towson, although occasionally you may find him in Greenmount at a dice game or improving his shanking techniques down in the dirty southwest.
So now that you know more about who this funny fellow really is, what does this guy look for in a girl? Mike says that she must be open, outgoing and someone who smiles a lot. Of course, having a good sense of humor is a must. Puns are his bread and butter, so most people who can keep usp with the Mikester have to have a quick wit. If you can't keep up in conversation, it's a no-go. Mike is turned off by people who hate. Hate on Hopkins, hate on other people or just hate in general. Misery loves company, but Mike does not. But when that special someone with that sweet smile comes along, Mike has the perfect first date lined up. His perfect date would probably be at the Baltimore Museum of Art, and then out to a nice dinner. Art tends to really bring someone's culture out, so it really impresses Mike if a girl knows a thing or two about the arts (Note to all you art history majors out there!). Afterward, a romantic dinner really fosters good conversation. Mike tends to be pretty good at diffusing awkwardness, so these two activities which one may think could be awkward really end up being pleasant and make for a great evening.
So, does up-and-coming Seth Rogan/Will Ferrell/Kevin James funny guy sound like the one for you? Well, this silly single with his quick wit and oodles of charm definitely will not last long. Remember ladies, personality is what matters most!
