The University has decided how it will compensate for the week of classes that were canceled due to the snow storms.

Classes will end seven days later, and reading period has also been shortened, according to information provided to The News-Letter by Hopkins spokesperson Dennis O'Shea.

Commencement for the Class of 2010 will still be held on May 27.

Classes will now end on May 7. One day has been cut from reading period, and finals will be held from May 10 through May 16.

The schedule originally stated that classes would end on April 30, reading period would occur between May 3 and May 5, with finals ending on May 13.

The Registrar's Office will soon provide an updated final exam schedule.

While this is a workable policy for many, it's also horrible for some. I hope JHU will pay attention to people whose plans, travel or otherwise, will be ruined by this to some extent. (Continued…)

For seniors, we still have to stay till the same day (27th). For everyone else, rescheduling this far in the future is doable. No one could foresee an event like this, with a week of school off from snow. (Continued…)

Points to Note:
1) Thank God you did not tamper with Spring Break.
2) This cuts 3 days off of my otherwise awesomely long senior week(s).
3) Students now have 2 days (48 hours) in between the last day of classes and possibly their first exam, whereas originally they had 5. (Continued…)

I'm sorry, you did not cut ONE day from our reading period, you morons cut off THREE. Ok, normally we finish class on Friday, then had our weekend, and Mon- Wed was a reading period. (Continued…)

Honestly what did you people think was going to happen? An entire week of school was canceled and believe it or not your profs probably had things to teach during that week. (Continued…)

If we're making up the week anyway, as we should, why on earth are they shortening reading period by 60%? I think most people would rather have the three extra days to study than go home three days earlier. (Continued…)

they should just push back everything by one week instead of shortening reading period. i think students prefer to go home late than mess up their finals. (Continued…)
